If train booking is done as per preference at the time of booking of tickets ,Both the passenger and railway departmet will get benifit. For example, all passengers may be asked for give preference of all categories at the time of booking, and they may be given a choice of first - second - third- fourth preference in all categories, so that if they do not get a seat for the first priority, he may avail the reserved accommodation for the second - to - fourth priority, so that the waitlisted passenger will enjoy a significant advantage as well as railway department also be get benifit, and the booking of vacant seat will take place automatically. ---

For example, all passengers may be asked for give preference of all categories at the time of booking, and they may be given a choice of first - second - third- fourth preference in all categories, so that if they do not get a seat for the लेकिन सर जी, मैं समझता हूँ की यह तो अब भी है। जब आप बुक करते हैं तो आपको तभी नेक्स्ट क्लास दिखाई जाती है (अगर अवैलबल हो तो)। तो आप उस हाइयर क्लास को चुन सकते हैं। हाँ यह हो सकता है की यह रेल्वे के काउन्टर पर संभव नहीं है, बल्कि तभी संभव है जब आप कंप्युटर पर बुक कर रहे हों तो । लेकिन आज कल मुझे लगता है की 90% बुकिंग कंप्युटर पर ही होती हैं। रेल्वे काउन्टर पर तो बहुत ही कम भीड़ होती है। अगर आप कहते हैं की जब तक स्लीपर में हमारी सीट कन्फर्म नहीं होती, तब तक हाइयर क्लास (जैसे की ऐसी) को उसके लिए खाली रखा जाए, तो भी वो प्रैक्टिकल नहीं है। ---

I think its a good idea and also think that there are a few important improvements/changes to be made in Indian Railways booking system. Btw, Is this system followed in Air reservations? ---

हाँ तो उनको कैसे पता चलेगा की मैं कब तक वैटिंग में रहना चाहता हूँ? (यानी की कब तक मुझे उम्मीद है की शायद क्लियर हो जाए). या मैं आपकी बात समझा नहीं. अगर मैं शुरू में ही वेटिंग में नहीं रहना चाहता होता, तो मैं तभी हायर क्लास चूस कर लेता. ---

श्री मान जी ये कोई नयी व्यवस्था नहि है ,रेलवे काऊंटर पर बहुत पुरानी चल रही है , यदि कोई याञी प्रतीक्षा सुची मे रह जाता है ओर उससे उपर की क्लास मे सीट खाली हो तो आटोमैटीक उस क्लास मे अपडेट हो जाती है ! किराया वही रहता है जो पहले दिया ज चुका है ! ---

उपेर से नीचे कैसे जाएगा कोई? नीचे से उपेर तो जा सकता है। कोई ऐसी वाला अगर स्लीपर में कन्वर्ट हो गया और उसने उसे सविकार न किया तो रेल्वे की वो बर्थ एन टाइम पर खाली भी रह सकती है। इन चीजों को प्रकटिकाली मैनेज करने में कितनी परेशानी आएगी? ---

बहन जी माम लिजीए की आपने सलीपर क्लास का टिकट बुक करवाया , ओर आपकी वेटिंग लिस्ट मे है ओर फाईनल चार्ट बनने तक वेटिंग लिस्ट मे रह जाती है तो उससे उपर की क्लास जो थर्ड एसी है उसमे सीट खाली रह जाती है तो सिस्टम अपने आप आपको अपग्रेड कर देगा , पर ऐसा दो या तीन प्रतिशत ही होता है ---

सर स्वीकार तो उसने जब ही तब ही कर लिया जब यात्री ने पहली प्राथमिकता दूसरी तीसरी चौथी प्राथमिकता बुकिंग के समय ही दे दीं । अगर वह बाद में अपनी सहमति नही देता तो उसका रिफंड रेलवे जब्त कर लेगा । ---

अगर वो ऐसी प्राथमिकता दे सकता है (यदि ऐसी provision है) तो इसका मतलब रेल्वे में यह रूले पहले से ही है फिर। ---
