Bathinda’s food experience
Thoda sa time mila … Neend bhi nahi aa rahi… Aap sab ke food related messages dekh kar muh mein paani sa aa gya… Sari foodie life flashback check karke kuch apna experience share karta hu… Some of my familiar food vendors in Bathinda are as follow:
1.Vinod Kachori wala(Sirki Bazar) :
No need to introduce this man… He is the man who unites every Bathindians food lover whether they are in Bathinda or staying abroad. This dish( Kachori) is the only dish which is seen in Bathinda only nowhere else… I tried to find this food in Delhi as well but couldn’t find anywhere in Delhi .. there are 2-3 more vendors of this dish in Bathinda like Shiv kachori at amrik Singh road opposite annapurna mandir, one uncle outside des raj school( don’t knw his name) and one vendor opposite nai basti street no. 1( name not known but he is the son of famous Ram Halwai)
- Ganpat Golgappe ( Goldiggi pump)
Simple,Desi,pure,original, not artificial like these days golgappa vendor… Main thing is that old feel when we enjoy his stuff…uncle used to roam at nai basti streets aprox 10-15 years but now a days he stands near gol diggi petrol pump.
- National bakery :
Probably,every 90’s children dream was to lock themselves in national bakery for a day atleast. I would like to talk about the old national bakery at post office bazar during 90s. Now pammi’s national bakery is more famous than the old one.The old one bakery lost that charm… But i still remember that old national bakery days.. at then time their speciality was pastries,cakes & parties…
- Kaana pakode wala( Arya samajh chowk)
He also lost that much charm as there are a lots of vendor of this type now. But he was very famous during a time just because of his Chatni…
- Om icecream (near library)
Best milk badam & Desi indian ice cream in Bathinda. Upgraded from a cart to a shop.
- Bhagwan chat( Dahi bhalle)
Still remember that old days… Shivji bhagwan ke bhajan, dhoop, wo waha par lagi hui ek ghanti… Upar se uncle ki look bhi kisi baba jesi thi… Esa lagta tha jese mandir mein bhalle khaa rahe hein…i think uncle is no more now. His son is running the business now.
- Pappu Golgappe( hathi wala Mandir road) closed now
He was very famous during a time.
- Jalebi @ Jalebi chowk(Children park road)
Jalebi of uncle is too yummy. Still remember i used to buy 10₹ Jalebi for whole family at home…
Diwali & Dashehra time uncle ke yaha line lagti hai…
- Nand Juice corner( Dosa at 90’s)
He is one of the restaurants who introduced dosa to the Bathinda i think. Before Nand juice corner, dosa was available only at madrasi canteen inside thermal plant( as per resources)
- Kapoor Chinese (Gol diggi)
Introduction of chowmein ( noodles) to Bathinda credit goes to Kapoor Chinese. Still remember that ₹20 veg plate & ₹25 singapori plate…we 4 persons used to order one plate at that time. Attended a lots of birthday parties there during school time.
- Pappu Dhaba( near railway station)
Normaly har city mein Railway station ke paas kabhi acha khana nahi milta… But Bathinda has a good option of food near railway station . Apart from that grand dhaba is also if same kind. If you wanna eat ghar ka khana type near railway station then you can go at mahavir bhojnalaya ₹80 thali when i last visited.
12.pizzano
It was a new change in baked items after national bakery alongwith Italian & Chinese food during a time.
- Sandwich & bun kucha at Ganesha basti opposite Mandir
Don’t remember the name of the shop… But his stuffed kucha is awesome.
- Pooja Bakery
₹ 3 patty ( puff) … Pocket friendly for the school students then. They are serving patty only in ₹ 5 these days… Very pocket friendly & good too…
- Raju chat bhandar( Dhobi bazar & hathi wala Mandir road)
7 type of paani… Actually 4 type of pani was main… He introduced 3 more flavour later… His dahi stuffed golgappa is awesome..& best one is last potato masala filled golgappa…

Pithi wale pakode & Samose( Sirki Bazar)
He sells his stuff only for 2 hours… I think everyone know that guy… Number bahut mushkil ata hai yaha -
Giani Paronthe wala( paani wali diggi)
Have heard a lot about this uncle.. pehle bahut famous the… Ek baar try bhi kiye.. but normal lage… Actually wo pehle tab is liye famous the kionki tab itne food vendors the hi nai… Anyhow.. hamare seniors ki inke saath bhi yaadein judi hui hein
- Lachman( lachu) puri wala
Bathinda’s breakfast point… puri with spicy choles and their lassi is too good.
- Bhatia puri wala
Bhatia puri wala near jethu halwai puri is also very famous… Special their Petha sabji on sundays.
- Jethu halwai
Best & old halwai for panjeeri type of stuff.
- Gupta puri wala
Nai basti walo ka breakfast point… Aaj kal bhatti road par breakfast ka cart lagate hein… Breakfast ke baad fir nai basti street no. 2 ke opposite all pakoras.
- Paharganj chole bhature wala( shifted from nai basti to tinkoni) one more Paharganj bhature wala is near pooja Bakery…
As far as I know about Bathindians… We prefer puri chole instead of bhaturas during Sunday morning… Bhatura is delhites breakfast..

24.Bikaner sweets( tinkoni)
Lost their charm now… They were very famous for bread pakora in a time.
- Kulcha at machi market
Not every Bathindians know about this guy… His kuchas are very good.
- Amrik dhaba(mehna chowk) & Lark Dhaba
Old & famous dhaba… Speciality .. parathas & kari…
Lark dhaba is their non veg dhaba… I’m a Vegetarian but my friends used to enjoy their non veg stuff..
- Sangam chat corner( Ac market)
He used to stand outside AC market… But he changed his place to nai basti these days…
- South indian dosa point
His south indian food is also good.
- Jampack( old one,dhobi bazar)
Closed now… It was a good place.
- Agra chat bhandar(asli wala)
Ye jo chaupati bani hai sports market ke saamne… Ye inhi bhai sahab ki den hai… Unko dekh kar sabhi ne apni cart ka naam Agra chat bhandar rakh liya… Fir inko apni cart ka naam Asli Agra chat bhandar rakhna pada…
- Fun times (Dhobi bazar)
Bathinda’s only ice cream point… their Sundaes ice cream is very good.
- Tea at tinkoni
Rose garden & joggers park group’ favourite… Best for political talks & backbiting..
- Pappi ande wala( machi market)
His shop was behind Pappu dhaba… But now shifted to fish market… His bread omelette is very good.
- Maana fish( machi market)
My friends praise their fish … He is the brother of pappi ande wala.
- Gangaram ande wala( opposite nai basti 6 no. at main GT road)
He is also very famous place for eggetarians.
- Bhullar paneer wala( Sirki Bazar)
His paneer pakoras & raw paneer is very famous.
- Manoj sweet house:
My best dish here is Julie sweet… Raj kachori & Bhalla..
- Tinku sweet house(coffee corner)
This place was known as coffee corner in a time… this is the first shop in bathinda where i see that solid coupen system…Now a days they lost their that charm.
- Kulche Chole wale uncle at afim wali gali corner.
Old desi school type kulche…
- Lachu samose not sure about name…( afim wali gali outside amartex)
He is the guy who serve Samosa ,bread pakora & other pakora prepared in low flame with his unique tempeting yellowish chatni… I preffer to buy bun from outside & enjoy bun samosa just like Kasauli famous bun samosa…
Mazak mazak mein bahut bada message ho gya… Half members to read hi na karein shayad.. but kya karu… Bhawnao mein kho gya mein…
.. Mere muh mein abhi paani aa rha hai itni food ki baat karke…
.. Is time esa kuch khaane ko bhi nahi milega… List to abhi bahut lambi hai…
